Your dentist may fit you with some temporary veneers to protect your prepared teeth while you wait for your permanent porcelain veneers to be fabricated. As soon as your porcelain veneers are ready your dentist will fit them to your teeth. Some adjustments and trimming will be needed.
The dentist will clean and roughen the front surfaces of your teeth to help the dental cement to stick to it. Porcelain veneers are then cemented over this roughened surface. Excess cement, veneer are all trimmed away leaving behind a polished and beautiful natural looking teeth.
The porcelain veneers are long lasting unless they are in contact with anything. If they rub against something or you bite into something like rocks the veneer can get chipped off. Veneers can fail if bad technique is used to fit the veneers. The cement is likely to leak out and the veneer will slip away.
Porcelain veneers don’t usually change color, but certain foods you eat can stain and de-color them. If so you may need a dental appointment to get them cleaned out.
